The Archery Shoppe was formally known as Albuquerque Archery, which its original owner successfully operated for decades. The shop was sold to an English investor, who promptly bankrupted the business, leaving Albuquerque without a bow shop for two years. Noble Sinclair and Mark and Gina Chavez stepped in to purchase the business from Jack D’Ambrosio in 2001. The Archery Shoppe quickly became the largest archery pro-shop in the entire state of New Mexico, and that is when their growing pains began. The original shop, just 4,000 square feet, was stuffed with merchandise, and allowed for just a handful of shooting lanes—far too few for the plans the new owners had in mind. Sinclair and the Chavez's were lucky enough to discover a lot in the same high-traffic vicinity, and at a price they could manage. Ground breaking on the new site started quickly, eventually resulting in the business’ 7,200 square foot building they operate out of today. The new building includes 3,700 square feet of shooting lanes and 3,500 square feet of retail space. More recently, Sinclair decided to retire, selling his interest in the business to Mark and Gina. Head bow tech Gabe Lovato, an employee of 21 years, and inventory and special orders manager Annette Gonzales, a 12-year employee, have been brought in as part owners as a reward for their passionate service.
